About Us

auBrokers.com is a broker review and comparison site built for Australians by people who actually trade and invest. We test platforms with real money, verify the data ourselves, and write honest reviews based on what we find. No fluff, no paid rankings, no recycled press releases.

Here's who's behind the site.

Lead Writer & Broker Analyst Melbourne, Australia

I've been investing and trading for close to twenty years now. What started as a casual interest in my mid-twenties turned into something I genuinely care about, both as a way to build wealth.

These days I split my time between long-term share investing and some active trading on the side. I currently use three different brokers for different purposes. I won't name them here because the whole point of auBrokers.com is to help you make your own choice based on your own needs, not mine. What works for me might not work for you, and I'd rather you arrived at that decision through our reviews than through my personal preference.

I should probably explain how this site came about.

Years ago, when I was still fairly new to all of this, I opened an account with a broker that looked legitimate on the surface. Nice website, professional marketing, promises of low fees and fast execution. What I didn't check properly was their regulatory status. They weren't regulated by ASIC. They weren't really regulated by anyone with teeth. When things went sideways, I had almost no recourse. I lost a chunk of money that I couldn't afford to lose at the time, and the whole experience left a bad taste.

That's not a unique story. It happens to people all the time. And the frustrating part is that it's avoidable. If someone had laid out the facts clearly, if there'd been a straightforward resource that said "this broker is properly regulated, this one isn't, here's what the fees actually look like, here's what the platform is actually like to use," I probably would have made a different choice.

That's what auBrokers.com is. A place where Australians can find honest, verified information about brokers before they hand over their money. Every review on this site is based on real account testing. I open the accounts myself, deposit real funds, use the platform the way a real trader would, and write up what I find. Good and bad.

Outside of work, I live in Melbourne with my family. I spend a fair bit of time at the beach when the weather cooperates. I surf most weekends, although I'd hesitate to call myself good at it. I've been doing it long enough to stay upright, and that's about the level of ambition I've settled on. It's a good way to switch off from screens and charts for a few hours.

If you've got a question about a review, want to challenge something I've written, or just want to share your own experience with a broker, I'd genuinely like to hear from you. You can reach me through our contact page.

auBrokers Research Team

Fact-Checking & Data Verification

Behind every review and comparison on auBrokers.com, there's a small team of three people who make sure the numbers add up and the facts are straight.

Their job is simple but critical. They verify fee tables against the broker's current pricing. They check that regulatory details, licence numbers and company information are accurate and up to date. They cross-reference minimum deposits, available assets, platform features and anything else that could affect your decision. If a broker changes something, they update the review straight away.

All three have been through a structured training programme run by the site's owner (you can find details about the ownership on our Terms of Service page). The training covers how to verify broker data from primary sources, what to look for when checking regulatory registers, how to spot outdated or misleading fee information, and the editorial standards we hold ourselves to.

The owner oversees their work on an ongoing basis. The team meets regularly to go through updates, flag discrepancies and discuss any brokers that have changed their terms or conditions since the last review cycle.

We don't outsource this work. Everything is done in-house by people who understand what they're looking at. Getting a fee table wrong or listing the wrong regulatory status isn't just an error on a webpage. It's the kind of mistake that could lead someone to make a bad financial decision. We take that seriously.
